Lot of six (6) Lower Egypt. Late Dynastic Period Scarabs. . Lot includes: (11 mm) Green-blue glazed steatite scarab. A scarab with a central bidirectional piercing for suspension. The back of the scarab is simply engraved to define features of the scarab. On the face, significant bitumen present that interferes in the read, however “May ma’at endure” seems to be suggested from what can be read.

(12 mm) Stone scarab. A fragment of a scarab with a central bidirectional piercing for suspension. The back is engraved to define features of the scarab and are well carved. On the face, significant loss to the top 60% of the engraving. The bottom of the inscription can be read to suggest “flourishing life.”

(12 mm) Steatite scarab. A scarab with a central bidirectional piercing for suspension. The back is well engraved, including features of the scarab. On the face, an inscription in hieroglyphs. Loss at the upper right corner and lower left corner makes it impossible to read, however a wedjet is clearly visible in the upper left corner.

(18 mm) Partially glazed steatite scarab. A scarab with a central bidirectional piercing for suspension. Very spotty glaze exists across the piece. The back is well engraved and features, including the legs, head and clypeus are defined. The face shows several hieroglyphs; however, the definition is soft and is unreadable.

(16 mm) Steatite scarab. A scarab with a central bidirectional piercing for suspension. The back is engraved with basic features of the scarab, including legs. On the face, hieroglyphs of a personal name. Loss on the upper right corner makes it impossible to read fully.

(18 mm) Dark blue glazed steatite scarab. A scarab with central bidirectional piercing for suspension. The back is engraved, however bitumen covers and hides a portion. On the face, the hieroglyph m’n is visible in the center of the face. The rest of the cartouche is unable to be seen because of the bitumen. .
