Blue glazed steatite scarab with pharaoh’s name in hieroglyphs. Lower Egypt. New Kingdoms Period. Tuthmose III. 18th Dynasty. 1479-1425 BC. (12 mm) A scarab with a central bidirectional piercing for suspension. The back is simply engraved, defining major features of the scarab. On the face, menkheperre (Tuthmose III) in hieroglyphs. Some glaze remaining.

Sold for the Benefit of the American Numismatic Society.
