Steatite scarab with hieroglyphs, djed, and uraeus. Lower Egypt. New Kingdoms Period. 1550-1050 BC. (16 mm) A scarab with a central bidirectional piercing for suspension. The back is simply engraved to define basic features of the scarab. On the face, an inscription in two lines in hieroglyphs. The top line is a personal name. The line below shows a djed, an uraeus and the hieroglyph “nfr” (meaning good, beautiful). VF. Rare. |
