Steatite scarab with hieroglyphs. Lower Egypt. New Kingdoms Period. 1550-1050 BC. (16 mm) A scarab with a central bidirectional piercing for suspension. The back is simply engraved, only defining the most basic features. On the face, a central scarab is flanked by two uraei, two djed and the hieroglyph n’b (lord). Suggested meaning “Rebirth of the eternal Lord Pharoah, the everlasting backbone of Osiris.”. VF. |
