Steatite scarab with seated jackal. Lower Egypt. New Kingdoms Period. 1550-1050 BC. (14 mm) A scarab with central, bidirectional piercing. The top is well engraved, defining the features of the scarab including the legs. On the face, loss of right side makes a third of the face unreadable. What is present seems to refer to Amun above, the middle portion of the carving with a seated jackal facing right. The lower register is unreadable. Chipped. |
