SELEUKID EMPIRE. Antiochos VIII Epiphanes (Grypos). 121/0-97/6 BC. AR Hemidrachm (13.5mm, 1.66 g, 12h). Uncertain mint. Diademed head right / Nike advancing left, holding wreath. Cf. HGC 6, 1210. Toned, roughness, scratches. Near VF. Apparently unpublished.

From the Raintree Collection.

Antioch was the only mint known to have issued hemidrachms during the reign of Antiochos VIII, and the 12 o’clock die axis here is consistent with that mint. However, all of the issues at Antioch have control marks in the outer left field, and though some of the fields are not visible here, the outer left field is clearly visible, with no controls.
