PHOENICIA, Tripolis. Time of Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Æ (23.5mm, 8.06 g, 12h). Dated years 325 of the Seleukid Era and 44 of the Actian Era (AD 13/4). Conjoined laureate heads of the Dioscuri right / Nike, holding wreath and palm, standing right on prow right; LMΔ (RY date) above prow, [TKЄ (SE date) below]. RPC I 4515; BMC 34-6; Rouvier 1679. Dark brown patina with earthen red highlights. Good Fine.

The portraits on the obverse are described as the Dioscuri in RPC, likely based on their appearance on a number of earlier issues at Tripolis. Others, however, question the identification, as the portraits lack the canonical stars surmounting each bust when the Dioscuri are intended.

Closing Date and Time: 1 June 2022 at 12:22:20 ET.
