ANGLO-SAXON, Continental Sceattas. Circa 715-800/20. AR Sceatt (12mm, 1.12 g, 2h). Series X, type 31. Uncertain mint (in England?). ‘Wodan’ head facing; crosses flanking neck / Fantastic creature right, head left, with tail coiled rightward; pellets around. Cf. Abramson 104-25 (for similar); MEC 8 Series Xb; North 116; SCBC 797. Hairline edge split. Glossy surfaces. Good VF. A rare imitative issue of charming style.
