HUNNIC TRIBES, Western Turks. Zabulistan. Pangul. Circa early-mid 8th century. Æ Hemidrachm (27.5mm, 1.90 g, 9h). Balkh mint. Protomes of two senmurvs vis-à-vis; tamgha or solar symbol above; παναγολο/χοδδηο βαγο (= ‘Pangul, the Lord, King’) in Bactrian in two lines / ταδονο ταρχανο βαγδδιγγο υαροβιδο (= ‘Tudunl, Tarkhan of Balkh, the Commander’) in Bactrian, tamgha. Vondrovec [Göbl, Hunnen] Type 245. Green and brown patina, light roughness, struck on a ragged flan. Near VF. Rare.
