LUCANIA, Velia. Circa 300-280 BC. AR Nomos (23mm, 7.49 g, 10h). Philistion group. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with laurel wreath and wing; monogram behind neck guard, Φ before neck / Lion standing right; above, horizontal grain ear between Φ and I; Π below, YEΛHTΩN in exergue. Williams Period VII, 486 (O241/R340); HN Italy 1309; SNG Fitzwiliam 684 (same obv. die); Ars Classica & Naville XII, 520 (same dies); Jameson 400 (same obv. die). Attractive iridescent tone, slight die wear, a few minor scratches. Good VF.
