Commodus. AD 177-192. Æ Sestertius (28.5mm, 21.22 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 184 or 185. Laureate head right / VICT BRIT in exergue, Victory seated right on shields, cradling palm frond in right arm, and placing left hand on shield set on knee; two shields on ground to left. Cf. RIC III 440 and 452; cf. MIR 18, 653-6/30 and 665-6/30; cf. Banti 484-5; SCBC 648. Green patina, rough surfaces. VF.

During the reign of Commodus, a serious revolt erupted in Britain in 184, the causes of which are uncertain. The revolt was quickly put down and a series of coins was struck to commemorate the event.
