L. Titurius L.f. Sabinus. 89 BC. AR Denarius (18.5mm, 3.86 g, 6h). Rome mint. Bareheaded and bearded head right of the Sabine king Tatius; palm frond below chin / Two soldiers facing one another, each carrying off a Sabine woman in his arms. Crawford 344/1c; Sydenham 698b; Tituria 3; RBW 1300. Iridescently toned, a few scratches, weakly struck in areas. VF.

This coin was exhibited at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art as part of the numismatic display portion of the “Villa to the Grave” Roman exhibit which inaugurated the now permanent Roman collection at the museum. The exhibit ran from 9/19/2003-8/25/2005 and was covered in an article in Minerva magazine.
