THRACE, Maroneia. Late 2nd-mid 1st centuries BC. AR Tetradrachm (33mm, 16.51 g, 1h). Wreathed head of young Dionysos right / Dionysos standing half-left, holding grapes and narthex stalks; monogram to inner left, Θ to inner right. Schönert-Geiss 1118 (V41/R128); HGC 3, 1556; Ars Classica XV, lot 551 (same dies). Toned, minor bend in flan, overstruck on a tetradrachm in the name of Antiochos (name and traces of undertype visible on the obverse). VF. |
