WORLD. France. Lot of one-hundred-seven (107) AR Deniers of Valence. All coins: Angel standing facing with wings displayed / Cross; annulet in fourth quarter. Near VF to VF, usual minor striking issues. LOT SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS. One-hundred-seven (107) coins in lot.

Valence deniers are found in significant quantities in coin hoards from the Crusader possessions in the east. It is possible that some of the cruder varieties, such as Metcalf’s Group D are in fact eastern imitations of the French issue.
