Gordian I. AD 238. AR Denarius (19mm, 2.82 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck 1-22 April AD 238. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Roma seated left on throne, holding Victory and scepter; oval shield below throne. RIC IV 4; RSC 8. Lightly toned. In NGC encapsulation 4529600-008, graded Ch AU, Strike: 4/5, Surface: 5/5. Perfectly centered, almost prooflike surfaces with much field luster. Quite attractive in hand with a strong portrait.
