KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AR Drachm (17mm, 4.15 g, 7h). Amphipolis mint. Struck under Antipater, circa 325-323/2 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / ΑΛΕΞΑΝ-ΔΡΟY, eagle standing right, head left, on thunderbolt; horizontal boukranion to left. Price 96 (same dies as illustration); Troxell, Studies, Group E8, 160 = BM museum no. 2002,0101.56 = Athena Fund II 412 (same dies); ANS acc. no. 1954.203.129 (same rev. die). Lightly toned, flan flaws, scratches. Good VF. Well centered. Extremely rare, Troxell notes only four examples (the four in Pella), and this coin is one of only two in CoinArchives.
