Vitellius, with his children. AD 69. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.06 g, 6h). Dynastic issue. Rome mint. Struck circa late April-20 December. [A VIT]ELLIVS GERMAN IMP TR P, laureate head of Vitellius right / LIBERI IMP GERMAN, confronted, bareheaded, and draped busts of Vitellius’ son, Vitellius Germanicus, on the left, and daughter, Vitellia, on the right. RIC I 79; RSC 5; BMCRE p. 370, note 12; BN –; J. Schulman 262 (14 May 1975), lot 1337 (same dies). Toned, a couple of scratches on reverse. Good VF. Neither the British Museum nor the Bibliothèque Nationale possesses an example of this rare issue.
