PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. temp. Artaxerxes III to Darios III. Circa 350-333 BC. Æ (12mm, 1.51 g, 3h). Uncertain mint in southern Asia Minor. Persian king, wearing kidaris and kandys, in kneeling-running stance right, drawing bow / Warrior thrusting spear he holds aloft, on horse galloping right; unclear Aramaic inscription below. Bodzek pl. IX, 14; otherwise, unpublished in the standard references. Earthen dark green-brown patina. Good Fine. Extremely rare, none in CoinArchives.

The types present on this bronze issue are very similar to that found on an issue attributed to Evagoras II (cf. Konuk, Influences, pl. XXX, 8), but the latter has a different obverse variety, where the archer also holds a spear, and there is no Aramaic inscription. Bodzek noted only one example of the type, but the reverse was off center such that the inscription was not visible.

Closing Date and Time: 15 October 2025 at 11:23:20 ET.

All winning bids are subject to a 20% buyer’s fee.
