CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 280-272 BC. AR Nomos (21mm, 6.32 g, 5h). Reduced standard. The Dioskouroi riding left; monogram above, ΣΩΔ-A-M-O-Σ below (only traces visible) / Phalanthos, nude, holding two spears, shield decorated with hippocamp, and Nike, who crowns him with wreath, riding dolphin left; ΠY to left, waves below. Vlasto 773–7; HN Italy 1011. Patches of thick find patina, a little of center, cleaning scratches, some roughness. Good VF. |
