Hadrian. AD 117-138. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.52 g, 6h). Antioch mint. Struck AD 119. IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from front / P M TR POTES COS III, Fortuna seated left, holding rudder and cornucopia. RIC II.3 2966; RPC p. 449; RSC 1179. Lustrous, minor flan flaw in reverse field. EF. Very rare.

A note from the collector: One of the finest known examples of Hadrian’s Antioch denarii, this coin also has an unusual draped and cuirassed bust; most examples have a cuirassed bust with no drapery.
