Julia Mamaea. Augusta, AD 222-235. AR Denarius (19mm, 2.74 g, 6h). Rome mint. Proclamation or 1st issue of Severus Alexander, early AD 222. IVLIA MAMAEA AV[G], draped bust right / LIBERT AS AVG, Liberalitas standing left, holding abacus and cornucopia. RIC IV 373; BMCRE 995* (cf. 3 note for reverse); RSC 42b. Toned, thin flan crack. VF. Extremely rare hybrid with a reverse intended for an issue of Severus Alexander.

From the Richard McAlee Collection.

Though the collector considered this an eastern issue, BMCRE does not give any official coinage of Julia Mamaea to the eastern mint, indicating that this is either a hybrid from the Rome mint or unofficial.
