JEWELRY. Roman. 3rd – 4th Cent. CE. Gold foil over Bronze and Carnelian. A Roman ring with wide shoulders in gold foil over bronze as a base metal form. Splitting foil on lower part of the ring. An intaglio in carnelian is mounted centrally. The bust of a helmeted, bearded Mars faces right. The carving is very finely executed. |
