Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (23mm, 4.17 g, 6h). ‘C’ mint. IMP CARAVSIVS P P AV [sic], radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / COME S AVG, Victory advancing right, holding palm frond over shoulder and wreath in outstretched hand; C. RIC V 199 var. (obv. legend). Attractive dark brown patina with some red, minor pitting. Good VF. Extremely rare. A new variety of an already rare issue with this legend ending in AV. Additionally, with the F in P F erroneously cut as a second P.
