KINGS of MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes. 306-283 BC. AR Hemidrachm (2.12 g, 7h). Thebes mint. Struck circa 290 BC. Diademed and horned head right / Poseidon Pelagaios standing left, right foot on rock, holding trident in left hand; between legs, monogram in circle. Cf. Newell 139 (Tetradrachm); SNG München -; SNG Alpha Bank -; SNG Berry -. VF, toned, light porosity. Apparently unique.
Hemidrachms of this type are known at Thebes, but all published examples have a slightly different monogram (Newell 140).
