Constantius I and Galerius. As Caesars, AD 293-305. Æ Follis (29mm, 7.62 g). Trier mint. Struck AD 298-299. Jugate busts of Constantius and Galerius right, both laureate, draped and cuirassed / Genius standing left, holding patera and cornucopia; B-*/TR. RIC VI 373. VF, black patina with some red and green encrustation, some light smoothing, rough surfaces. Very rare.

Trier struck folles with three unique jugate bust types in this period; Maximianus and his patron god Hercules, the two Imperators Diocletian and Maximianus and the two Caesars Constantius and Galerius. 298 was a busy year for the Tetrarchs: Diocletian welcomed Galerius home from his victorious campaign against the Persians, Constantius defeated the Alemanni at Langres, and Maximianus celebrated his triumphal first entry into Rome. These issues undoubtedly proclaim the resounding success of the tetrarchal system.
