Anonymous. Circa 225-217 BC. Æ Aes Grave Triens (45mm, 81.25 gm). Helmeted head of Mars left on raised disk; four pellets below; S countermark on cheek / Prow of galley right; four pellets below. Thurlow-Vecchi 53; Crawford 35/3a; Haeberlin pl. 17, 6-19. VF, dark brown patina under earthen encrustation. Counterstamped aes grave are extremely rare!
