99, Lot: 115. Estimate $100.
Sold for $62. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

TRAJAN. 98-117 AD. Fourrée Denarius (19mm, 2.51 gm). Ancient imitation of Rome mint. Struck circa 114-117 AD, or later. Laureate bust right, slight drapery on far shoulder / Spes walking left, holding hem of skirt and flower. Cf. RSC 84. Good VF, small spots in plating broken to reveal a copper core. Interesting.

Not only is the style of this coin very wrong, but the legend combination does not make any sense (IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS VI P P / COS V P P S P Q R OPTIMO PRINC)!
