LIVIA, wife of Augustus and mother of Tiberius. Died 29 AD. Æ Sestertius (34mm, 27.10 gm). Struck under Tiberius, 22-23 AD. Ornamented carpentum being drawn by two mules / Legend around large S C. RIC I 50 (Tiberius); BMCRE 78 (Tiberius); Cohen 6. Fine, with exceptionally attractive smooth "Tiber" patina, minor roughness on obverse.
Struck to mark the recovery of Livia from a severe illness.
