CONSTANTINE I. 307-337 AD. AR Miliarense (4.84 gm). Constantinople mint. Struck 330-335 AD. CONSTANTI-NVS MAX AVG, Pearl-diademed and draped bust facing, head right / VIRTVS EXERCITVS, soldier standing facing, head right, holding reverted spear and leaning on shield; •CONSIA•. RIC VII 58; Hunter -; RSC 700†b. Near EF, minor mark on neck. Very rare. ($3000)

The rare first issue of the miliarense should be more accurately termed a double siliqua. The rarity of this issue suggests that the coins were struck as donatives to government officials and the military and not as general circulation pieces.
