PHOENICIA, Aradus. Caracalla. AD 198-217. AR Tetradrachm (24.5mm, 10.12 g, 12h). Struck AD 215-217. Laureate and cuirassed bust left, holding spear over shoulder with right hand, large shield over left shoulder, which is ornamented with an aegis / Laureate head of Caracalla right, set on eagle standing right. Prieur – (cf. 1231 for reverse type). VF, toned, porous. Extremely rare, if not unique, Prieur did not own this example when he published his book, and this coin is the only specimen in CoinArchives.
