AVT K ΛI ΠO AI (sic) ΓAΛΛIHNO [CЄB], laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right; I in right field / Π-ЄPΓAIΩN, NЄΩKOPΩN in exergue, Athena standing right, holding spear and shield and crowning Artemis standing right, holding bow and drawing arrow from quiver; hound at Artemis’ side. SNG Paris 553 (same dies); Lindgren & Kovacs 1140 (this coin). VF, brown surfaces, roughness.

Artemis was the patron deity of Perga, whilst Athena was the patron deity of Perga’s rival city, Side in Pamphylia. This interesting type seems to serve as a declaration of Perga’s superiority.
