SELEUCIS and PIERIA, Antioch. Philip I. AD 244-249. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 13.17 g, 6h). Struck AD 248-249. Radiate and cuirassed bust left, wearing
balteus; head of eagle on breastplate, shield decorated with
profectio of emperor: Philip on horseback riding left, being led by Victory and followed by a soldier / Eagle standing right, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; ANTIOXIA/S C in two lines in exergue. Prieur 437 = McAlee 961 (this coin illustrated). Good VF, toned, light edge scrape at 10 o’clock on the obverse. Extremely rare, only one known to Prieur, and one on CoinArchives.
