Bronze ceremonial mace-head. Luristan, circa 1000-800 BC. A tubular, hollow-cast mace-head with flanges at top and bottom. Body flares toward the top and carries a decorative pattern in two registers; the lower register carries a chevron pattern while the upper is decorated with a series of oval ornaments (grains?) divided by chevron patterns.
Height: 23.5cm. Attractive green patina with a few cleaning marks and minor area of bare metal. Intact. Cf. Ashmolean Collection, 95.
