PHOKIS, Elateia. Late 4th-mid 3rd centuries BC. Æ (13mm, 2.87 g, 11h). Head of bull facing / ΦΩ within wreath. BCD Lokris 472.2 (this coin); HGC 4, – (but cf. 1110 [Federal Coinage]). Near EF, dark green patina.

HGC 4 omits this issue from Elateia, perhaps presuming that it was part of the main coinage produced in the Federal series (HGC 1110), since it lacks the city ethnic. However, the style of the obverse of these that BCD placed at Elateia is significantly different from the Federal coins, but is identical to the obverses of the larger denomination at Elateia (BCD 417.1–4) with which BCD associated these small coins.
