ISLAMIC. Mongols. Lot of six (6) AR from the medieval period. Includes: (1) Mongols. Great Khans. temp. Güyük. AH 644-646 / AD 1246-1248. AR Dirham (19.5mm, 2.13 g, 1h). Imil mint. [Immobilized date AH 644 (AD 1246)]. Trident-like tamgha with uneven shoulders; blundered Kufic inscription around / Blundered Kufic legend: al-imam | al-a'zam in two lines. Nayamaa 53; SNA Tübingen –; Album O1979; Zeno 186102; Album 29, lot 401; ICV 1952. Near VF, toned, large area of flat strike. Rare.

(2) Mongols. Jujids (Golden Horde). Möngke (Mengu) Timur. AH 665-679 / AD 1267-1280. AR Dirham (17mm, 1.04 g, 4h). Bulghar mint. Dated AH 679 (AD 1280). Naskh legend: la ilah illa | Allah, wahdahu | la sharika 679 (There is no deity except | God alone | [He has] no equal. 679); floral symbol above / Naskh legend around central tamgha (from lower right): Möngke Timur Bulghar 679. Fedorov-Davydov –; Nyamaa –; Jena –; Album 2020A; ICV 2020; Zeno 40547. VF, toned. Very rare, particularly dated to the last year of his reign.

(3) Mongols. Jujids (Golden Horde). Töde Möngke (Mengu). AH 679-687 / AD 1280-1287. AR Dirham (19mm, 1.70 g, 9h). Qrim mint. Dated AH 686 (AD 1287). Naskh legend: Töle Buqa | dariba Qrim | 686 (Töle Buqa | struck in Qrim | 686) / Tamgha with pellets flanking, within center of linear hexagram; pellets around. Fedorov-Davydov –; Nyamaa 85; Jena –; Album 2022.2; ICV 2021. Good VF, small area of weak strike. Very rare.

(4) Mongols. Jujids (Golden Horde). Toqta. AH 690-713 / AD 1291-1313. AR Dirham (18mm, 1.23 g, 10h). Qrim mint. Dated AH 698 (AD 1298/9). Central Naskh legend: khan | al-sultan | Toqta (khan | al-sultan | Toqta); in margins, pellets flanking annulet / Naskh legend around central tamgha: dariba Qrim | 698 (Struck at | Qrim | 698); pellets in margins. Fedorov-Davydov –; Jena 907 var. (date); Album 2023.4; ICV 2025. EF, toned, area of flat strike. Scarce.

(5) Persia (Post-Mongol). Timurids. Timur (Tamerlane). AH 771-807 / AD 1370-1405. AR 2 Dinars (16mm, 1.07 g, 7h). Citing Chagatai khan Mahmud. Kushtaspi mint. Undated, circa AH 790-807 / AD 1388-1405. Within quadrilobe, central Kufic legend: la ilah illa Allah | Muhammad | [rasulu]allah (There is no deity except God | Muhammad | [is the messenger of] God); marginal Naskh legend, counterclockwise from top: [Abu Bakr] | 'Umar | 'Uthman | 'Ali / Within hexafoil(?), Naskh legend: [dariba...] | al-sultan Mahmud [khan] | Timur Kurkan | Kushtaspi ([struck at...] | al-sultan Mahmud [Khan] | Timur Kurkan | Kushtaspi).
