SELEUKID EMPIRE. Seleukos I Nikator. 312-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm (24.6mm, 17.07 g, 8h). In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Babylon I mint. Struck circa 311-300 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; monogram in wreath in left field, MI and pellet below throne. SC 82.5b var. (no pellet); Price 3747 var. (same); HGC 9, 10f; Berlin 18207741; CNG 419, lot 206; CNG 402, lot 271; CNG 399, lot 220 (this coin). VF, toned, obverse struck slightly off center. Very rare variety with pellet below MI, only one in Pella (Berlin), seven in CoinArchives (only three noting the pellet below MI).

It is interesting that no prior publication noted this variety, since the Berlin Museum piece was from the Prokesch von Osten collection, and was in the museum since 1875!
