The obverse is a copy of the Herakles head of the new imperial coinage of Alexander III of Macedon, beginning in 336 BC, demonstrating that this issue will have been struck at the time of Alexander the Molosian, at whose marriage to the Macedonian’s sister Cleopatra, Philip II was assassinated.
