Lot of two pieces: bronze idol and terracotta cuneiform tablet. Near Eastern. Includes the following: 1. Archaic Period, circa 3000-2500 BC. Bronze idol in the form of a bird-type mother goddes (often associated with Astarte), with pointed head and beak-like nose. Height: 62mm. Intact. 2. Sumerian Period. A terracotta Ur III cuneiform tablet detailing an expenditure of lambs and ewes in the Drehem province, dating to the second year of Amar-Sin’s reign (2046-2038 BC). Includes a translation from the Babylonian Collection, Yale University. Dimensions: 34x31mm. Old collection number “RS464” written on one edge. Broken and repaired.
