Comet Countermark?

410, Lot: 4. Estimate $100.
Sold for $240. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

SICILY, Syracuse. Dionysios I. 405-367 BC. Æ Drachm (29.5mm, 30.22 g, 12h). Head of Athena left, wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with wreath; c/m: star, with pellets around, in incuse circle / Star between two dolphins. Holloway, Further, Series 4; CNS 62; HGC 2, 1436. Host coin Fine, green patina, encrustation; countermark Good VF. Interesting countermark, the pellets are around the periphery, but also flanking just one ray, suggesting the type might actually represent a comet.
