Hostilian(?). As Caesar, AD 250-251. Æ Sestertius (25mm, 11.47 g, 12h). Rome mint. 5th(?) emission of Trajan Decius, AD 251. C V[....], bareheaded and draped bust right / [V]O[TIS]/DECENNA/L[I]BVS/ S C in four lines within wreath. Apparently an unpublished type for Hostilian as Caesar, but cf. RIC IV 226; Banti 17 for the type as Augustus. Near Fine, dark brown to black patina with touches of green. Rare.

From the estate of Thomas Bentley Cederlind.

Without a more complete legend, the attribution here is tenuous, but the portrait certainly looks like Hostilian. There is a possibility that it is Volusian, where the type is known for him (cf. RIC IV 243, Æ As).
