PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Ptolemy V Epiphanes. 204-180 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 14.36 g, 1h). Uncertain mint on Cyprus(?). Dated year 81 (182/1 BC). Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, wearing aegis around neck / Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; [ΠA (date) in exergue]. Mørkholm, Ptolemaic 75–9 (obv. die A17); Svoronos 1102; SNG Copenhagen 543 var. (date; same obv. die); DCA 73. VF, compact flan, struck with worn obverse die.


Although this obverse die was used for tetradrachms dated years 79-81, the amount of wear is consistent with the illustrated pieces of year 81.
