BRUTTIUM, Kroton. Circa 480-430 BC. AR Nomos (18.5mm, 7.41 g, 12h). Contemporary imitation(?) of dumpy incuse type. Tripod with legs terminating in lion's feet; to right, heron standing left / Incuse tripod. Cf. HN Italy 2102 for prototype issue. Good VF, toned.

From the Dr. Lawrence D. Sporty Collection. Ex Classical Numismatic Group Inventory 190432 (January 2004).

The crude style of this piece, as well as the unusually small diameter of the flan, suggest this coin is from a contemporary forgery.
