PHRYGIA, Laodicea ad Lycum. Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. Æ (15mm, 3.39 g, 12h). Zeuxis Philalethes, magistrate. Struck circa 15 BC(?). Bare head right; lituus before / Serpent-entwined staff of Asclepius. RPC I 2895. Near VF, black patina.

From the estate of Thomas Bentley Cederlind. Ex Cederlind 171 (7 October 2013), no. 165.

RPC I (p. 475) notes that “... Zeuxis was almost certainly the director of the medical school mentioned by Strabo,” making this reverse type alluding to the god of healing particularly appropriate.
