New Kingdom. 19th Dynasty. Seti I (circa 1294-1279 BC). Steatite scarab with faint traces of grayish-blue glaze (18x13mm). Finely engraved back with wing cases inscribed “may the pharaoh rule.” Face depicts a sphinx standing to right, before which is the name of Seti I. A few very tiny chips, crack on face. Pierced. An interesting piece. Cf. Petrie,
Dynasty 19, pl. XXXIX, 17 for comparable.
