Horatius Cocles at the Pons Sublicius: Horatius battling with soldiers of the Tuscan king, Porsenna, upon the ruined bridge over the Tiber; to right, two enemy soldiers attempt to ford the river; dated year 246 (508 BC) in exergue / Mucius Scaevola Before Porsenna: Mucius before enthroned Porsenna, thrusting his hand into a sacrificial fire; before, dead body of the king’s secretary, whom Mucius had mistakenly taken as the king; dated year 246 (508 BC) in exergue.
