ITALY. Cn. Pompeius Magnus. 106-48 BC. Cast Æ Medal (32mm, 18.84 g, 12h). Reverse after a Roman Republican denarius of Cnaeus Pompeius Magnus (Pompey the Great). Manufactured circa 16th-18th centuries. Bearded head of Pompey the Great left / Vertical scepter; to left, dolphin swimming right; to right, eagle standing left with wings folded. Cf. Crawford 447/1a (for rev.). Near VF, brown surfaces, ‘(MA)’ graffiti on reverse. Ornate bronze suspension mount attached.
