LYCIA, Telmessos. Circa 410-390 BC. AR Diobol (11mm, 0.99 g, 8h). Helmeted head of Athena right / Bearded head of Herakles left, wearing lion skin headdress; all within incuse square. Falghera –; Podalia –; Traité II –; SNG Copenhagen Supp. –; SNG von Aulock – (cf. von Aulock 4199 for similar type with Herakles head right); apparently unpublished in the standard references, but see Roma X, lot 545 (same dies). VF, light porosity, obverse struck off center. Very rare, possibly the second known specimen.
