New Kingdom. 18th Dynasty. Amenhotep III (circa 1386-1353 BC). Blue glazed steatite scarab (22x15mm). Face depicts the name of Amenhotep, ninth pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty, also known as Amenophis III and Nebma’atre. A bit worn on face, otherwise an exceptionally preserved specimen in high relief, wrought in a delicate openwork style. Pierced. Cf. Rowe 546.
