ARGOLIS, Troezen. Caracalla. AD 198-217. Æ Diassarion(?) (22mm, 7.13 g, 1h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right; c/m: laureate bust right within oval incuse / Temple of Athena atop acropolis of Troezen; arched entryway at lower right bottom of hill, cypress tree to right. Apparently an unpublished type for Caracalla, but for similar types for Septimius see: BCD Peloponnesos 1344.1-2; BMC 23; NCP p. 47; Price & Trell 222. For countermark: cf. Howgego 566. Fine, porous brown surfaces, flan crack, pit on reverse.
