Bust left, wearing military attire / European-style coat-of-arms; mint formula above; denomination in Urdu below. KM 11; Friedberg 1030. EF, struck with typically rusty dies, hairlines on obverse.

From the collection of Dr. Lawrence A. Adams. Ex Stack’s (2 May 1981), lot 543.

The nawab of Bahawalpur ordered dies for nazarana rupees and ashrafis from Spink & Son in London in 1925. The deteriorated die state of many known specimens suggests the dies were kept for many years, for striking presentation pieces whenever needed. Bahawalpur was absorbed into the new state of Pakistan in 1947.
